(Live In The Living Space) The  Long Night

Live in the Living Space is a 25 minute live improvisation. The footage you are seeing here was very much taken back in September 2011. It was my first experiment with Onmisphere's Live Mode having purchased both Omnisphere and my 88 Weighted Key Midi Controller Keyboard in the very same month as this footage was taken.

The improv is far from perfect and many times I was scratching my head, or my hands were wondering all over the place trying to think of what keyboard patches I had programmed in to the lower end of the keys of both keyboards. 7 on the top keyboard and 8 on the bottom, and also 1 patch from the OPX- Pro2 which I used to start and end with on the bottom keyboard, making a total of 16 patches in total used throughout it's 25 minute journey.

Everything you are hearing here  is totally live. There are no sounds running in the background at all. This is how I have always perceived what live music should be, with no programmed sounds at all running in the background.

OK the piece may very well suffer for doing it this way, and it's perhaps not that really exciting  in relation to anything done in a studio, or even adding overdubs of other sounds to it afterwards, or having other parts already played and running in the background. But this is how I feel live music should be played, with no elements of cheating involved. If I wanted more in the piece I would very much sooner call on other musicians to play those parts.

Please note the use a Drum Machine I would consider perfectly acceptable, but I do not even use one of those in this live piece.

To make the piece more interesting I superimposed  some other video footage into the background and due to its length I entitled the piece The Long Night (a) Into The Night (B) Night Drive (C) In The Cool Of The Night (D) Into The Night (Reprise) The 4 subheadings are the 4 variations or parts of the piece.

We All Fall IN Love Sometimes (Arranged)

My arranged version of Elton John's song We All Fall In Love Sometimes.

I remastered the sound as best I could in Cubase.

The Elton Ditties

The Elton Ditties is a set of 3 short versions of his songs I just played as I left the camera rolling after originally doing a version of The Rolling Stones "Wild Horses" on the piano.

The 2011 Bedroom Sessions.

I Hate To See You Cry (Arranged)

An arrangement of an Alan Hull song from his album debut album Pipedream he did back in 1973. I decided to distort the visuals in favour of the albums  lucid intoxicated  drug state dreams. I also added another bit of footage on the end found in the archives of this video footage from the same sessions of a little dittie I done of the theme tune to the classic comedy series Steptoe & Son.

This series of video clips I have just recently pulled from the archives of my video footage taken back in the summer of 2011. They was all taken on a cheap £15 Digital Camera and the audio is very much Lo-Fi .

All clips were done on the only keyboard I could afford at the time, which was a Yamaha PSR E303 61 key Keyboard. Having sold all my keyboards back in 2006 to go on a mad mission to Australia. An experience though it may have been, but one that left me without the instrument I love the most for 5 years.

This keyboard I would also consider very much a toy in relation to a good 88 weighted full key keyboard, but it served its purpose very well having not touched one for 5 years, and getting back into playing and learning what I had already knew. It took a good few months and these sessions were very much from that period of time.

This year in the summer of 2013 I decided to put the video footage from my camera into my video editor and enhance them a bit by visual FX and remastering some of the sound on a couple of them.

Voices in the Night (Demo)

Voices In The Night is a demo of one of my own compositions which is intended for my 2nd album In Search of the Lost Souls. This is very much how I go about doing my own music by either recording it by audio or as here onto a video camera. I do this so that I do not forget the melody the chords and the vocal line.
