A project to which is something in the way of making myself sound like a band and playing all the instrumentation to do so. It's something I have always wanted to do, and as took me sometime to be able to do until I got additional instruments to be able to do so and fulfil my dream.

The new instrumentation as not only made me more creative by doing new material, but also gives me the opportunity to work on some of the many songs I wrote acoustically over all the years, and do those in the way of a studio track with more elements to be able to project the song into another light.

"She's So Cold" is a brand new song I wrote and was in fact the 2nd one I wrote for this project. Having got all the instrumentation and the vocals down for it, I very much knew by the subject matter and lyrical content I wrote down for the song, I was going to need a woman to say a few words for me, for the song to really work.

I first approached Jaime J. Ross to see if she would do them for me, but as the words I wrote and parts I wanted her to say were a bit on the offensive side with the use of foul language, Jaime declined due to her religious beliefs. It was at this point I approached Julie Wind and to be honest I really could not of found a better person to do the job. She was perfect for the part and up for it.

Julie gave me a lot more than just the words I had written down for her to say, and added a few of her own too. With the extras I was able to create an intro to the song which gave it the feeling of a domestic  incident going down, with Julie shouting her mouth off and slamming the door on her lazy partner.

"I'm Looking At You (Are You Looking At Me)" is song that came about after a restless night and getting up bright and early at 5 am on a Sunday morning back on the 22nd February 2015.

Having had a cup of coffee to wake me up, it suddenly dawned upon me that it was my turn to do something for Garden Group I am involved in on Facebook. Each member takes it in turns to have their week and put something out on the Thursday of each week. So with 4 days to get something done for it, I picked up my acoustic guitar and played two new tunes, both of which I recorded on my phone via a video, so I did not forget the melody and the vocal line I was just singing anything too at the time.

Having got them both down I sat down with another cuppa coffee and listened to them both to decide which one to do. It suddenly dawned upon me as I had the new toys to decide to try and do something more than just an acoustic version. So the first thing I did was get a drum beat on my drum machine pad, and picked up my guitar to play the rhythm along to it. Once comfortable with the piece, I decided to record the drum machine first and then record the first rhythm guitar, to which I followed up with a 2nd rhythm guitar and then recorded the bass. It was at this point I decided to replace the drum machine track with me playing the drums on the pads to the same thing I had originally done on the machine. Then I decided to play some harmonica to add to it and finally done the same with a bit of lead guitar to top it all off.

Afterwards I wrote the lyrics on the same day, but as my wife had now got up there was no way I was going to be able to record me singing them till the following day. So on the next day I had chance to get them done and decided to video myself singing them with the intention of putting a video out for the garden Group on the Thursday. I also decide to add some more live drums played on my pads to round it off at the end, and decided to video that too, but it I did not get my phone in the right position and you hardly see me playing them at all. But decided to just throw it in the video anyway.

I very much wrote the lyrics to the 2nd half of the song to fit in with the members of the garden Group, But I liked the song straight away and eventually knew I would rewrite them and tighten up the song a bit for an Soundcloud release. For the SC release I replayed the bass line and sang the whole song again with the new lyrics I wrote for the 2nd half.

A video showing the next song in the series I am working on.

"Burnt Wood" was the first little ditty I knocked up with my new guitar and bass, and was done on the 12th February 2015. I stuck it out on youtube around that time, though it was never mixed right I felt, especially as the guitar pad levels were a bit on the high side towards the end.

I dcided to tighten it up a bit and added a bit of drums to it, to which I just knocked out over it to suit for an SC release.
